About Dr Caroline Holden
BA(Hons), CELTA, DELTA, MSc, EdD
Dr Caroline Holden is based near Manchester in the UK. She works globally, both with international students and with educational institutions. She has over twenty five years’ experience working with international students, helping them develop their English language skills and study skills to transition successfully into UK and international universities and achieve their individual potential.
She is passionate about student support and believes that current university provision does not provide every student with sufficient comprehensive, individualised help to enable them to achieve academic success in their challenging first year at university.
She has carried out intensive research on the challenges that students face in first-year university and has published widely in this field VIEW PUBLICATIONS.
Prior to moving back to the UK she worked at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland designing and establishing the English Language Department and also a transitional year of study from Arabic Secondary School into an Irish Medical School. Her doctorate thesis was on ‘Academic Success and Failure in Foundation Year Medical School in a Transnational Middle Eastern Context’ at University College London VIEW PUBLICATIONS.
