Spotlight on Manchester

Here we focus on a UK city and look at what it is really like to study there.

Today, we look at my home city of Manchester which has five universities: University of Manchester; Manchester Metropolitan University; the University of Salford; the University of Bolton; and University Academy 92.

The region has one of the largest student populations (100,000) in the UK, not to mention Europe. A large city feel with cheaper living costs than London makes life in Manchester more affordable. Friendly people combined with a great sense of humour make you feel welcome. For your free time there is plenty to do: rich culture; premier football teams; a buzzing nightlife; and countryside on your doorstep. An international airport provides easy links to the Middle East, Europe and Asia. All this combined with a great academic experience-what is there not to love?
